Press Release

Washington, D.C.— Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) today released the following statement after receiving notice that the Federal Aviation Administration through the Department of Transportation has awarded Myrtle Beach International Airport with an multi-million dollar construction grant:

“I am honored to announce that the Department of Transportation has awarded Myrtle Beach International Airport a construction grant to improve its runway infrastructure,” said Congressman Rice.  “For years our district’s transportation and infrastructure needs have been overlooked and I am glad we are starting to get the attention we deserve.  Other airports in South Carolina have the runway capacity to accommodate a significantly greater amount of passenger and cargo flights.  This multi-million dollar grant will provide our airport with the accommodations needed to compete not only statewide,  but nationally, ultimately bringing more jobs to our district.”
