WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Rice (R-S.C.) today announced his Congressional office saved more than $140,000 in unused money from his annual office operating budget over the past year.
“Each year my office and I adhere to a budget to ensure that we are good stewards of taxpayer money, looking for ways to minimize waste and reduce costs while still operating efficient offices that serve the people of the Seventh District,” said Congressman Rice. “Every citizen of the Seventh District of South Carolina must operate on a budget and the federal government, including my office, should be no different.”
As part of the yearly appropriations process, Congress allocates money to fund office and staff operations for members of Congress. Every year since taking office Congressman Rice has left money from his office’s budget unused, saving nearly $500,000 in taxpayer money since 2013.
