America: Land of Opportunity

Friends,
I’m looking forward to the Blood and Plasma drive on Tuesday. This is such a great way to support the community. I hope you’ll all come out to donate.
Blood and Plasma Drive
On Tuesday, September 1st I am hosting a drive to collect blood, plasma, and antibodies. I encourage you to participate.
I would also love to have all elected officials, who tested COVID positive, to join me in donating antibodies.
The blood drive will take place at my Pee Dee Regional Office parking lot from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM on September 1. Also, anyone who donates blood will receive a free antibody test.
To make an appointment to donate blood, click here.
Have you fully recovered from Covid-19? If so, the plasma in your blood may contain COVID-19 antibodies that can attack the virus. Plasma is being evaluated as a possible treatment for currently ill COVID-19 patients, so your donation could help save the lives of patients fighting this disease!
One plasma donation could help three coronavirus patients.
To make an appointment to donate plasma, call 864-751-1168, or text the word PLASMA to 70547 to make an appointment.
Letter to POTUS
I, along with 49 of my Republican colleagues, signed onto a letter to President Trump to underscore our support for the pressure he put on the authoritarian regime in Iran.
The snapback of all pre-Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) sanctions on the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism is necessary to defend the US and its allies from the existential threat of a nuclear Iran.
The letter can be read in full here.
Land of Opportunity
My favorite nickname for America is “Land of Opportunity.”
A place where everyone — man or woman, black, brown or white — has a real chance to succeed.
After the financial crisis in 2008 it seemed that opportunity for many had slipped away. The Obama/Biden “progressive“ policies of higher taxes, more regulation and massive government programs smothered what should have been a dramatic recovery...
I wanted to bring back opportunity for our children and our grandchildren.

Coronavirus Recovery Grants
Pee Dee Regional Council of Governments and Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments both received grants of $400,000 to support coronavirus recovery.
These grants address two Seventh District priorities: relief from the economic crisis brought on by coronavirus and stimulating the economy.

Covid-19 Relief Checks
Ways and Means Republicans have been working with the IRS and have been encouraging the Administration to find a solution to ensure that these Americans with children were able to receive the full benefits of the CARES Act.
Recently, the IRS announced that it will reopen the registration period for these payments, ensuring that eligible families that did not previously receive dependent payments can apply to receive supplemental payments of $500 per dependent.
If you think you qualify for this relief, you can go here to file. https://www.irs.gov/coronavirus/non-filers-enter-payment-info-here
If you have any questions regarding these payments, you can find additional information via the IRS Economic Impact Information Center.
The application period runs from Aug. 15 through Sept. 30. The IRS expects these funds to be sent by mid-October.
