WMBF | Rice on Electoral College objections: ‘Regretful that this is being portrayed as a solution’

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WMBF) – Congressman Tom Rice is weighing in on lawmakers who plan to object to President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College win on Wednesday.
Three South Carolina U.S. representatives have come out to say that they will be challenging the Electoral College results, citing the alleged voter fraud and irregularities in the November elections.
In a Facebook post, Rice explained that the standard to overcome the Electoral College vote is extremely high and called the objections a symbolic gesture.
“It is truly regretful that this is being portrayed as a solution when, in fact, it is merely a protest vote. Unfortunately, Republicans are a minority in the House of Representatives,” Rice wrote. “We must look for real solutions rather than a guaranteed failure of a symbolic gesture that only strengthens the hands of the Democrats by setting a dangerous precedent.”
He went on to state that he shares the same frustrations of many people on the “apparent improprieties in some states in the presidential election.”
He said the upside of it all is that this has put a spotlight on the election process and now corrective action can be taken to avoid problems in future elections.
