WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) today released the following statement on returning $101,360 of his operating budget to the United States Treasury:
“One of my priorities in Congress is fiscal responsibility and I am always looking for opportunities to rein in wasteful government spending to save taxpayer money. Valuing taxpayer dollars means operating under a responsible budget.” said Congressman Rice. “Through careful budgeting, my staff and I were able to operate three offices to serve my constituents while saving over $100,000 in taxpayer dollars. I am proud to return $101,360 back to the United States Treasury and ask that it be used to pay down the national debt.”
Since taking office in January 2013, Rice has returned over $400,000 to the United States Treasury in cumulative yearly operating budget savings. Rice has three offices serving South Carolina’s Seventh Congressional District: the Grand Strand District Office, the Pee Dee District Office, and the Washington, D.C. Office.
