Washington, D.C.— Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) today released the following statement regarding the House passage of H.J. Res 59, Continuing Appropriations Resolution 2014:
“It is no secret that hardworking Americans are suffering. Saddled by federal bureaucracy our economy continues to languish even though we are now five years past the downturn. We have waited long enough. The Dodd-Frank debacle and the Presidents healthcare bill are strangling the recovery and killing millions of American Jobs. Instead of working to advance this President’s job killing health care law, Washington should be working to tackle our Nation’s debt head-on.
"Today, the House voted to keep the government’s doors open, continue reducing government spending by keeping sequestration, and protect Americans from the President’s health care overreach. It is now time for the Senate to do the same. Our government must stop spending beyond its means and pass long-term budget solutions that reduce our deficit. If our government can’t do this, how will we ever get back on a path of prosperity?”
