WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Rice (R-SC) announced his guest for next week’s State of the Union address. Congressman Rice’s guest, Florence County Investigator Sarah Miller, is a true hero in her Florence, SC community. Investigator Miller was shot in an ambush on October 3, 2018. Miller was one of seven officers injured in the shooting. Two officers died, including fellow deputy, Investigator Farrah Turner and Sgt. Terrence Carraway. Miller endured multiple surgeries since suffering the life-threatening gunshot wounds. She persevered and is back serving her community.

“Sarah Miller is such an inspiration to all of us,” said Congressman Rice. “Her courage, sacrifice, and determination to return to service is the true definition of a hero. She demonstrates the ability to overcome such tragedy and loss. It is my sincere honor to accompany Sarah to the State of the Union.”
