Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) today released the following statement regarding the House passage of H.Res.644, Condemning and disapproving of the Obama Administration’s failure to comply with the lawful statutory requirement to notify Congress before releasing the Taliban 5:

“Our troops are working every hour of the day to stop radical Islamic terrorists from killing innocent civilians and plotting against our country, but this does not come without a cost,” said Congressman Rice.  “We have lost men and women in battle in order to capture top terrorist targets and hold them responsible for crimes against our country and our allies.  For this reason,  I am dumbfounded as to why the Obama Administration would release not one, but five, highly sought after terrorists.  By refusing to provide congressional notification prior to the release of war criminals, the Administration has once again violated our country’s laws.”
