Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) today released the following statement regarding the House passage of H.R. 5021, the Highway and Transportation Funding Act of 2014, which extends federal surface transportation programs and ensures the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund through May 2015:

“Washington must stop relying on short-term, band-aid fixes. That being said, we could not let the Highway Trust Fund expire because it would cost jobs across the country and halt construction on our nation’s road projects.  My colleagues and I will now use these extra months to work on sustainable, long-term solutions to fix our highways and transportation infrastructure.”
