Washington, D.C.— Rep. Tom Rice (SC-07) issued the following statement regarding the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce’s April Jobs Report, which revealed that South Carolina’s unemployment rate has dropped to its lowest point in five years:

“South Carolina’s competitive economic environment and loyal businesses have once again proven to be driving forces in our success.  While the Palmetto State is an economic example for states across the country, we still have more work to do.  Three counties in my district have unemployment rates stuck above 10 percent and the average unemployment rate in my district is 10.3 percent.  Economic growth and job creation remain my top priorities in Congress and I will continue to advocate for projects like Interstate 73, which would boost our economy and create thousands of South Carolinian jobs.”
