Washington, D.C.— Rep. Tom Rice (SC-07) issued the following statement today regarding the House passage of H.R. 1797, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

“After learning about Dr. Gosnell’s heinous acts and the procedures he performed in his ‘House of Horrors,’ I cosponsored this life-saving bill without hesitation.   As concerned fathers, mothers, grandparents, sisters, brothers, aunts, and uncles, it is our priority to protect unborn babies from these violent procedures.  There are more Gosnells out there, and I am proud we were able to band together and put an end to dangerous late-term abortions.”

H.R. 1797 passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a bipartisan vote of 228-196.
