South Carolina – On Friday, Governor Henry McMaster announced the designation of 135 opportunity zones in South Carolina, 24 of which are in the Seventh District. Congressman Tom Rice (R-S.C.) issued the following statement on opportunity zone designation:

“I am excited that Governor McMaster designated 24 opportunity zones in the Seventh District - the second highest amount among all of South Carolina’s Congressional districts. This program will build on economic development projects already underway in the district, such as the Dillon Inland Port, and will incentivize job creation for people who have been searching for opportunity for far too long,” said Congressman Rice. “Additionally, there are seven opportunity zones along the I-73 corridor, which will only increase the demand  to push this long awaited infrastructure project across the finish line. These opportunity zones are perfectly designed to help the areas that have been previously overlooked so that everybody has the chance to live the American Dream.”
