Washington, D.C.— Rep. Tom Rice (SC-07) issued the following statement today regarding the House passage of H.R.5, the Student Success Act:

“Today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders, entrepreneurs, and innovators.  We must help our students achieve their dreams by providing them with the  tools they need to be successful.  When it comes to education, our local communities and educators know best—not Washington bureaucrats—which is why my colleagues and I voted today to put education back in the hands of our state and local education leaders.  I am confident that they are best positioned to help our students excel.”

H.R. 5 passed the U.S. House of Representatives with a vote of 221-207.
