WASHINGTON – Congressman Tom Rice (R-SC) issued the following statement after federal agencies signed the One Federal Decisions Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a coordinated and timely review process for major infrastructure projects:

“There are too many regulatory barriers that delay essential infrastructure projects at the expense of taxpayers. In the case of I-73, 15 state and federal agencies have spent 16 years and $21 million in taxpayer dollars to comply with the regulatory review process. Consolidating and streamlining the environmental review process, aiming to complete permit reviews within two years, will allow badly-needed infrastructure projects to move forward without getting stuck in a bureaucratic black hole. I look forward to working with the Administration on reducing burdensome regulations that have held up infrastructure projects that will create opportunity in South Carolina and throughout the nation.”
