Washington, D.C.— Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) today released the following statement after the United States Supreme Court delivered the King v. Burwell ruling:

“Since enacted, Obamacare has proven to be a multifaceted disaster.  It has driven up the cost of health care, severed patient-doctor relationships, and forced employers to cut employee hours.  For now, the glitch-laden federal exchanges will stay in place but this ruling does not mean the law is good policy.  I will continue to work with my House colleagues on a replacement plan that puts health care decisions back in the hands of patients, not federal bureaucrats.”

According to the House Republican Policy Committee, 4.5 percent of South Carolina’s Seventh District population is enrolled in the federal health care exchange and 88 percent of participants receive a federal subsidy.  The average federal subsidy in South Carolina’s Seventh District is $4,361.00.
