Washington, D.C.— Nearly 400 South Carolina National Guard troops from the 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade returned home today from a nine-month deployment in Kosovo.  Rep. Tom Rice (SC-07) visited with some of the returning soldiers last week in Kosovo and released the following statement welcoming them home:

“I had the honor of visiting with soldiers of the 218th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade in Kosovo.  South Carolinians should be extremely proud of these men and women.  Because of their efforts and the efforts of soldiers before them, Kosovo is a free country today.  When I met with National leaders in Kosovo they told me if it were not for our brave soldiers, many people in their country would not be alive today.  We will never be able to thank you enough for your courageous service.  Welcome home and God bless.”
