Washington, D.C.— Congressman Tom Rice (R-SC) announced today that his Stop This Overreaching Presidency (STOP) Resolution has gained support from more than 50 Members of Congress. H.Res. 442, the STOP Resolution, directs the House of Representatives to bring the President to court for not adhering to his Presidential duties outlined in the United States Constitution.

Today, the United States Supreme Court will hear arguments about presidential overreach in regards to past National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) recess appointments.  Meanwhile, Congressman Rice and a growing number of his colleagues have acted to end such overreaches and will continue to fight for the United States Constitution.

Congressman Rice, along with five cosponsors: Congresswoman Roby, Congressman Stewart, Congressman Yoho, Congressman Woodall, and Congressman DeSantis, last week expressed their support for the STOP Resolution and their frustrations with the Obama Administration’s abuse of power.  During his floor speech, Congressman Rice expressed his concern for President Obama’s recent executive overreaches.

“Our Founders, Mr. Speaker, designed a system of government based on a Separation of Powers,” said Congressman Rice.  “The Legislative branch makes the laws and the Executive Branch enforces our laws. They did this to protect our very, very fragile freedom and we cannot allow those separations to be eroded.  Mr. Speaker, this is not a Republican, Democrat, or Tea Party thing.  This is about no American or president being above our nation’s laws.”
