Washington, D.C. – Congressman Tom Rice (SC-07) released the following statement in remembrance of the September 11, 2001 attacks:
“Today, we remember the thousands of innocent lives lost in the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Many of us will never forget where we were that day, as we turned on the TV or radio and heard the tragic news. Wrenzie and I extend our thoughts and prayers to those who lost a spouse, child, relative, coworker, or friend. We also honor for the first responders and volunteers that risked their lives to help others. These attacks shook our nation, but in this dark time of trial, our country remained united.
“On this 13th anniversary and at a time of increasing terrorist threats, America will continue to stand united by our commitment to defend our nation at home and abroad. As President Bush said, America is the brightest beacon for freedom in the world, and no one will keep that light from shining.”
