DILLON, SC – Today was the grand opening of the Dillon Inland Port, the second inland port operated by the South Carolina Ports Authority in the state. Congressman Tom Rice (R-SC) played a large role in bringing this port to Dillon and released the following statement about the grand opening ceremony:

“I’ve worked hard at the federal level and with the Ports Authority to bring the Dillon Inland Port to fruition. As an extension of the Charleston Port, one of the largest economic drivers in South Carolina, the Dillon Inland Port will bring the success of the state’s freight industry to the Pee Dee. The Dillon Inland Port will be an economic engine for the region, attracting diverse new industry that will create high-paying jobs in Marion, Marlboro, and Dillon Counties. The facility has already created 1,000 jobs in our area, and today’s grand opening begins the next stage of economic development that will help uplift our entire community.”
