FEMA Update: Deadline This Week

The FEMA deadline to apply for disaster assistance for damage and losses from Hurricane Florence is this coming Wednesday, December 5th. You won't know if you are eligible for funds unless you apply, so I encourage you to do so! Please share this information with anyone you think may need assistance.

If you have questions, please visit the Hurricane Florence Disaster Page at www.fema.gov/disaster/4394 to find answers about FEMA assistance including: understanding your FEMA determination letter, the importance of returning your U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan application and how to file an appeal.

Promises Kept

On Friday, President Trump signed the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement at the G20 Summit. The USMCA signing is another step toward a trilateral agreement that will open new export markets and provide much needed certainty to American businesses, farmers, and workers. I will continue to work with the Administration and my colleagues on the Ways and Means Committee to pursue trade deals that include South Carolina's priorities and strengthen our economy.

The Care They Deserve

Ensuring our veterans receive the care they deserve is one of my top priorities in Congress. Horry County has the second largest veteran population in South Carolina, so learning that the Horry VA is taking steps to improve their services is great news! They just implemented electronic claim filing and a more efficient appointment system. My office is dedicated to helping veterans in the Seventh District with any problems they may be having with the VA. If you are a veteran and need assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to one of my offices!

Interested in Interning?

I have three offices to serve the people of the Grand Strand and Pee Dee. In Washington, D.C., my staff handles legislative issues like introducing bills and committee work. In my Myrtle Beach and Florence offices, my staff handles constituent casework like helping veterans process their claims at the VA or solving problems with Social Security. At both locations, interns are a valuable part of the team and help the office run smoothly.

Internships are open to any college or higher education student. If you or someone you know would be a good candidate for one of my internships, please see here for more information and to apply. We accept interns on a rolling basis for the spring, summer, and fall semesters.
