Tax Reform Benefits Mullins Employees

I had the chance to visit Walmart in Mullins, South Carolina to meet with employees who have received benefits due to the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act! Because of tax reform, Walmart raised their minimum wage to $11/hour and gave $1,000 cash bonuses to eligible employees. Walmart associates in South Carolina received these bonuses in Friday's paycheck! They also expanded their paid parental leave benefits and are providing additional assistance to employees who are interested in adopting a child. It was great to meet with Walmart employees in our district who are experiencing the benefits of tax reform firsthand.

Vote Notes

Did you know that since Dodd-Frank became law, we have lost one community financial institution a day on average? When it comes to banking regulation, Washington needs to get out of the way and let community banks serve their customers. That is why I voted for the Comprehensive Regulatory Review Act, which will help put an end to redundant regulations that lead to paperwork pile ups! This bipartisan bill will require regulatory agencies to review their regulations on a more frequent basis and eliminate duplicative rules that are burdening small banks. Cutting redundant banking regulations will clear the way for hard working Americans to access credit to buy a home, purchase a car, and start or grow businesses that will create jobs.

Watch my interview with Fox Business where I gave an update on the negotiations and discussed how an updated NAFTA will help make America competitive!
