Tax Day 2019

This is the first year that Americans filed their tax returns since the implementation of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act! Under the new tax code, the standard deduction was nearly doubled and income tax rates were cut across the board. We doubled the Child Tax Credit to help hardworking families and repealed the Obamacare Individual Mandate to ensure people would not be penalized for opting out of expensive health insurance plans they couldn't afford.

Time to Move On

The Special Counsel's report makes clear that after 22 months and $25 million taxpayer dollars there was no collusion and no obstruction of justice by President Trump or his campaign. Democrats are still attempting to spin the truth to fit the false narrative they’ve been pushing since President Donald Trump took office. In the interest of full transparency, President Trump did not assert executive privilege over the report, meaning that only DOJ officials redacted sensitive information.

I voted to make the report public so that you can review the facts for yourself and am glad that Attorney General Barr made it available. You can read the full report here. I think it's pretty amazing that President Donald Trump has accomplished so much for our country despite this unprecedented opposition. It's time for my colleagues to move on and focus on issues that matter to the American people.

Ensuring companies are able to create opportunities in the Seventh District is one of my top priorities in Congress. I will continue to advance policies that help South Carolina job creators succeed!

The Congressional Art Competition is an opportunity to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation, as well as in or congressional district. The competition is open to all high school students in the 7th district. The winning piece will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol and the artist will receive round-trip airfare to attend the national winners' reception in Washington D.C. I'm looking forward to seeing all of your creative talent and picking the winning entry! Click the link below for submission details.
