Let's Get Coffee

How About a Cup of Coffee?

It has been a very busy first few weeks of the year in Washington, and there is much more to come! I’d like to invite you for coffee to discuss what’s been happening in D.C. and what I can do in Congress to help you and your family. This coming week, I'll be in Darlington, Florence, Conway, and Myrtle Beach. Location details are on my website. If I'm not in your area this week, check back soon. I will be hosting another round of Coffee with your Congressman events in February. All of these events are free and open to the public, so grab a few friends and join me for a cup of joe!

My Offices are Open

The House passed a clean spending bill to fund our government on Thursday night. The bill kept spending at current levels, funded health insurance for 9 million low income children, and delayed several unpopular Obamacare taxes. The bill failed in the Senate and the government shutdown. During the shutdown, my Washington D.C. and District offices will remain open and ready to assist constituents with their questions and concerns. Visit my website for a full list of agencies and services impacted by the shutdown.

The Greatest Gift

This week, 100,000 people flew to D.C. to participate in the annual March for Life, the largest pro-life event in the nation. I stood with other conservative House members to protect life by voting yes on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Act, a bill that protects the lives of children that have already been born. This legislation guarantees that babies born after a failed abortion attempt will receive the same medical care as any other newborn. Doctors who fail to provide the best possible care to these newborns will be held criminally accountable. Every life is a gift and I will always stand for those who cannot protect themselves.

Securing America's Future Act

Our immigration system is broken. We need to use our immigration system as most countries do, to make America more competitive! That is why I am co-sponsoring the Securing America's Future Act. This bill will strengthen our existing immigration laws, secure the border, end chain migration, reform our agriculture guest worker program and establish the foundation for a merit based system. It also provides a legislative solution for the current beneficiaries of DACA.

President Trump has opened the door for bipartisan action on immigration reform. I am looking forward to working with my friends across the aisle to fix our immigration system.

  Carolina This Week
I sat down with Trey Paul to talk about current legislation and events impacting our district. We discussed Medicaid work requirements, immigration reform, and Hurricane Matthew recovery. Watch the full interview here!
