This week, I was appointed to the House Democracy Partnership for the 117th Congress by Minority Leader McCarthy, along with eight other Republican Members of the House of Representatives. The House Democracy Partnership, founded in 2005, is a bipartisan commission of the House of Representatives that works to promote responsive, effective government and strengthen democratic institutions by assisting legislatures in emerging democracies. The Partnership is assisted by the US Agency for International Development, the International Republican Institute, and the National Democratic Institute.
I look forward to rejoining the House Democracy Partnership and working with legislatures around the world to strengthen democracies. This commission helps to deepen our Nation’s bilateral relations and has an impact on people worldwide. I’m proud to work towards enhanced accountability, transparency, access to information, and government oversight in our partner countries. Read more here.
2021 Congressional Art Competition
Attention high school artists! My office is now accepting submissions for the 2021 Congressional Art Competition. I welcome the participation of all high school students (Grades 9 through 12) in South Carolina’s 7th Congressional District.
The overall winner will have their artwork displayed at the Capitol in Washington, DC for a year and will be able to attend a reception at the Capitol in the summer (COVID-19 guidelines permitting). We will also have a runner-up from the Grand Strand and Pee Dee Regions. These two individuals will have their artwork displayed in my Myrtle Beach and Florence offices for one year.
I’m looking forward to another great competition and seeing the creativity and artistic talents of our students! For 2021 Competition Guidelines and to answer any questions, please email: firstname.lastname@example.org
South Carolina moved to Phase 2 in COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution. Now, I'm pleased to see all South Carolinians aged 16+ are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in Phase 2 and can begin scheduling appointments. Currently, Pfizer is the only vaccine available to those aged 16-18. All three vaccines—Pfizer, Moderna and Janssen—are available to those aged 18 and older.
This is a positive step towards South Carolina returning to a state of normalcy. I encourage everyone eligible to find a vaccine location near them to schedule an appointment. Learn more here.
